Today's Gift I'm Feeling
"The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, worry about the future, or anticipate the troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly." - Buddha
T.G.I.F. everybody!
Practically every one of us has used this acronym at one time or another, “T.G.I.F.” for Thank God It’s Friday! For a lot of people this means a couple of days off in a row, or just elation for the weekend and fun scheduled events with family or friends. Maybe it means, time to get to that project you've been putting off all week.
We tend to experience a whole different feeling based upon what day of the week it is. Well, that is unless you work on the weekends. Then you might have to have your own version, ”T.G.I.M.F.” or Thank God It's My Friday.
Really, this "joy" we are feeling can be generated at ANY time. If you truly wanted to, and put your mind to it, you could create this "feeling" of Friday, any day of the week.
It just depends on how you begin each day and having the mindset that "Today IS going to be a great day"! There are several ways to make today a great day. But one of the simplest and most effective is to start with gratitude, blessings and thankfulness. I’m grateful to be alive. I'm thankful for friends and family.
I'm blessed with the ability to function. I’m thankful for the ability to choose, to make a difference. I'm thankful to have a job, or to have the ability to do something meaningful. There are so many blessings you can find to be grateful and thankful for. Work to begin EACH day remembering these things and you will be amazed on how your day will unfold.
The key to life is we must learn to enjoy every day as it comes and learn to master the art of now. Focus in on taking one day at a time means recognizing the difference between the what-if's and the what is. Stay active in the moment by focusing less on what is going on inside your mind and more on what's going on around you. Realize that life unfolds itself in the present.
Soak in as much of today as you possibly can. Focus on appreciating everything we see, hear, taste, smell and feel, every day. Every day is full of endless possibilities. Stay optimistic and expect to be amazed.
Remember that TODAY is a GIFT, that's why they call it THE PRESENT. Treat every day this way, and EACH day will feel like your "Friday". So, feel free to use this new take on the phrase T.G.I.F to mean “Today's Gift I'm Feeling!”
Live your life with passion and enthusiasm, with purpose and on purpose! Make the rest of your life the best of your life, one day at a time!
Make today great!
