Don't Count The Days, Make The Days Count
"Don't count the days, make the days count." - Muhammad Ali
It’s easy for us to live our days with little intention. We survive each day but make little effort to make each day count. COVID-19 has changed our viewpoint and many have begun to embrace each day as a gift and seek to discover the potential that each one holds. Some may get more days than others, but we have all been given one life, we should make the most of it.
Here’s some tips:
- Wake up early. Early mornings can be quiet, peaceful, productive and energizing time to yourself, for yourself.
- Eat right and exercise. Studies show, people who eat right and exercise regularly are more alert, happier, calmer, more energetic and better equipped to handle whatever the day throws at them. 20 min a day can help you experience these benefits.
- Accomplish one big task. Everything requires our time. Likely, your to-do list is longer than you can complete in one day. Choose one big thing on your list and do it first. It will feel good to check off your list.
- Do one thing that you love. Apart from the day-to-day requirements of living life, you have dreams, goals and hobbies that breathe life into who you are. Embrace these life-giving activities.
- Take time to rest, as it is as essential to our body as food and water and air. Our body needs to be refreshed daily. Don’t neglect to schedule rest. And don’t feel guilty about it when you do.
- Be present with others. Put away distractions, converse, ask questions and give time for answers. Listen with the intent to be amazed. Look people in the eye when you do. Their eyes reveal far more than their words.
- Invest your life in someone else’s every day. Great joy and fulfillment come from giving to and investing in others. No gift can be too simple or too small. It can be a quick phone call or text just to say hello.
- Nurture your soul. Find time each day to feed your soul by embracing gratitude, laughter, hope, and faith. Reset each night. Tomorrow is another day with great potential and opportunity.
- Begin it with a clean slate and a fresh start. Take 10 minutes each evening to clear the clutter and organize for the next day. Tomorrow’s self will thank you for it.
Today is among the greatest gifts we have ever been given. Let’s use it wisely and refuse to waste one.
Make today great!

"Today is a new day. Don't let your history interfere with your destiny! Let today be the day you stop being a victim of your circumstances and start taking action towards the life you want. You have the power and the time to shape your life. Break free from the poisonous victim mentality and embrace the truth of your greatness. You were not meant for a mundane or mediocre life!" - Steve Maraboli
