Serendipity
"It's a bizarre but wonderful feeling, to arrive dead center of a target you didn't even know you were aiming for." - Lois McMaster Bujold
I love feel-good movies. The 2001 movie Serendipity starred John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale; they play a couple who search for each other years after the night they first met, fell in love, and separated on their own ways. Convinced that their first meeting wasn't an accident and that they were meant to end up together. What a great story and a great lesson.
The word Serendipity means to discover something good by accident. It just happens. It is the occurrence and development of events by chance happily or beneficially. It comes from the story about the King of Serendip, who sent his sons on a journey. Since they were obedient and faithful, they discovered beautiful and valuable treasures along the way.
Sometimes we try so hard to find something when in reality, we aren't even sure what it is we are looking for. Other times we find that things seem to appear when we are least expecting them. I believe that everything happens for a reason. I believe that everything serves a purpose in our lives. We continuously have serendipitous moments with people, places, and things in our life at the exact moment they are supposed to happen. These people and things help form who you have become in the process. But it's what you do with those things that will help determine what happens next and who you will become in the future.
If we focus too much on the past and the way things were or are too preoccupied with the future and what may or may not happen, we might end up missing out. It's ok to learn from the past. It's ok to plan and hope for the future. But it is most essential to live in the moment. Take in everything happening around us today. And be on the lookout for the miracles that could be right in front of you today.
Be thankful for all of the unexpected joy and happiness that is in your life right now. Keep an attitude of gratitude and thankfulness at the forefront of your thoughts, beliefs, and actions. The people and things come into your life at the exact point and time of need, want, or desire. Sometimes this may seem like a coincidence. Sometimes it may feel like fate. Look for it. Anticipate it. For it is the collision and intersection of your collective past, present, and future. The magic is happening; you just have to keep your heart, soul, and mind open to it.
Make today great!

"It is through serendipitous encounters with objects and strangers that the world speaks to us but we have to be listening. By learning to be alert for clues, one is suddenly caught up in an exciting inner adventure." - Stephanie Rosenbloom
