Intentional Acts Of Kindness
With social distancing, self-quarantines, work, and school from home, it's easy to feel isolated and alone sometimes. Although it is important to spend some quality time alone and to self-reflect often, we have to be careful not to stay in our own heads for too long. It's a sure-fire way to get yourself stuck in a rut. We begin to ruminate over things from the past and make assumptions about other things in the future. We create scenarios in our minds that may never pan out. Soon we become distant, uninspired, riddled with uncertainty or fear, and end up feeling sorry for ourselves.
Most of us get like this and we all need a pick-me-up from time to time. As humans, we need to feel loved, wanted, inspired, cared about, and needed. We all do. We need to realize this not only about ourselves but be aware of it in others. One quick and easy way to get out of our own head is to shift our focus away from ourselves and on to others.
One thing this global pandemic has shown me is that we all need to do a better job at living our lives in the present. Stop taking other people and things for granted. Be thankful and live with gratitude. We need to do a better job at being kind to one another.
The real kind of kindness comes from deep within you and gives hope to those who think they are all alone in this world. A single, simple act of kindness can make a tremendous impact on a person's life, and no act of kindness, no matter how small is ever wasted. Unexpected kindness is the most powerful, least costly, and the most underrated means of human change.
Kindness is a gift everyone can afford to give, and wherever there is a human in need, there is an opportunity for kindness and to make a difference. When you are kind to others, it not only changes you, it changes the world. Never believe that a few caring people can't change the world, for indeed, that's all who ever have. In a world where you can be anything, be kind.
Reach out and make a positive difference in someone's life today! Not because you have to, but because you can! Little intentional acts of kindness might not be so little in the eyes of the person who desperately needs one. You never know what others may be going through. Everyone is fighting some kind of hard battle in their lives. Be more concerned about making others feel good about themselves than you are making them feel good about you, and strive to leave every personal interaction you come away from better than you found it. It's easy to do. Carry out these intentional acts of kindness with no expectation of reward other than knowing that one day someone may do the same for you.
Each day, consciously and intentionally perform little acts of kindness. They can be as simple and as small as you like, and there is no limit. A smile, a compliment, a gift, a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on, a listening ear, reassurance, your time, a hug. These small and simple intentional acts of kindness help make the world a happier place.
Here's to all the people who strive to be strong, and help to strengthen others. For the people who get back up more times than they've been knocked down. Who unselfishly give more than they ever expect to receive. Who show kindness and love to others, even if they may be the ones who are broken and in need. Who lift others up, with kindness and a smile when times are tough. Who carries the torch and light the way for others. Who strive to spread laughter, smiles, and joy in times of sorrow. Who intentionally seek opportunities to add value to others whether they need it or not. Thank you for making the world a better place.
Be kind now, don't wait. For you never know when it could be too late. Make's someone's day, through kindness!
Make today great!
