Ready, Set, Action

"What is not started today is never finished tomorrow." - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Most of us have good intentions, but often we find it hard to continuously stay mentally on track. Even if we know that taking action is the first step we must take, to lead us towards our dreams, aspirations, visions and goals.  It isn't always easy to stay consistent in doing what we must to build the momentum and drive towards success. But being on the right track just isn't enough, unless we continue to make an effort to take the actions we need to. Will Rogers said "Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there."

I believe that it isn't that we don't want to take action.  We do.  But our driving force may not strong enough to pull us through.  Intrinsically, people are driven by one of two things: Pain or Pleasure.  What we are willing to do, what are we willing to sacrifice, and what actions we are willing to take, are often influenced on the level of pain or pleasure associated with doing it.  If either the pain of not doing it, or the pleasure we could gain by achieving it isn't strong enough to get us to get up and get started, then we must re-evaluate if we truly want to achieve it. It is important for you to be completely and brutally honest with yourself in this process. What do you really want?  Where do you really want to be? Where are you now in comparison to where do you want to be?  What steps could you and should you be taking in order to close the gap?  Envision what you want.  See it happening in your mind.  Then begin.

What we sow, we reap.  We will always get out, what we put into it.  We've all heard these phrases before.  We understand them.  We get the message.  Yet, too often, when we get a goal, something that we say we want so badly we aren't willing to put in the work to achieve it.  Actions truly speak louder than words. But lack of action also speaks volumes. Take action steps today toward achieving your goals and dreams. Goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, clarity and belief, and massive action. There is no other route to success.  Having a 'to-do' list is nothing if we're not going to give any effort or take any action.

Taking action is the part most people don't do. Then we wonder why things don't change for the better. Decide what you want. Decide what you need to change or sacrifice to get it. Set your plan. Put your plan in motion! Do these actions tie into your goals? Your dreams? Your purpose? It's important that we live with purpose and, on purpose. Don't just live every day with good intentions, we must live our lives by intentionally taking the actions necessary to make a positive difference. What things are you currently taking action upon, or do you need to start taking action upon?

It all starts with your mindset and your thoughts. Stay positive, stay focused. Continue to believe in yourself and your dreams. Don't stop believing. Don't fear. Don't wait. Don't give up. Don't give in. Don't settle for less! Decide NOW and Start NOW! Get ready, get set…take action!

Make today great!

Curtis

"Action is a great restorer and builder of confidence. Inaction is not only the result, but the cause, of fear. Perhaps the action you take will be successful; Perhaps different action or adjustments will have to follow. But any action is better than no action at all." - Norman Vincent Peale
