Life Is Short

"We have two lives, and the second begins when we realize we only have one." - Confucius

I think sometimes we live our lives as if we are going to live forever. We put off doing things that could make ourselves or those around us happier because we think there will always be tomorrow. If there is one thing that I've learned over the past year through this pandemic, our time here on Earth is short. Life is unpredictable. Nothing is guaranteed. Life is too short to be anything but happy.

We need to start living our best lives. We need to start focusing on the things that matter most. We need to make sure we aren't taking things for granted. We need to be more aware, learn to appreciate all of the goodness around us, and seek to find joy in the little things. We should carry an 'Attitude of Gratitude' in all we do.

We need to take better care of ourselves, our loved ones, and each other. Focus on our health and wellness. We need to learn to smile, have fun, listen to music, and sing and dance more often. Do more of what makes you feel good, and stop doing things that don't benefit you. We need to laugh when we can, apologize when we should, and let go of what we cannot change. We can control our thoughts, our attitudes, and our actions. We need to stop letting life 'just happen' and begin creating the life we deserve.

We should love deeply, forgive quickly, take chances, give everything we can, with no regrets. We should practice intentional acts of kindness daily, share with others and always be courteous and respectful. Know when it is time to walk away from all the drama and the people who create it. Surround yourself with people who know your worth and who appreciate you for who you are. Love the people who treat you right; pray for the ones who don't.

Forget the past except for what you have learned and remember everything happens for a reason. Life happens for you, not to you. You are who you are today because of the life you have lived to this point. There is something positive to be found in every situation. Release the bad, and focus on the good. Look for it, and embrace it. Falling down is a part of life; getting back up is living. Being alive is a gift; being happy is by choice.

There are moments in your life that make you and sets the course of who you're going to be.  Sometimes they're subtle moments.  Sometimes, they're big moments you never saw coming.  No one asks for their life to change, but it does. It's what you do afterward that counts.  That's when you find out who you are. It all comes down to small shifts in our thoughts, beliefs, and actions. We have to move from just having good intentions to being intentional in our actions. What we think, believe and do, matters.

We need to do our share to make things better, always. We need to strive to improve ourselves in some way, shape, or form daily. Set goals and take action toward your goals daily. Learn to try harder, and try again. Don't give up, and don't give in. And in everything you do, always give it your all and do your best.

A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, and need less. When you go to bed with a dream and wake up with a purpose. When you believe in yourself and believe in your dreams, and realize how blessed you are. Dare to dream, and dream big. Do what you love and love what you do. If you desire more, do something about it. Embrace change. Face your fears head-on, and take action anyway.  Life's regrets aren't usually about what you did; it's about what you didn't dare to do.

This is your life, and you've got one life to live. Live it. It is valuable. Make the most of it. Live every day with purpose and on purpose. Make the most of each day, and make the rest of your life the best of your life. Live the life you deserve! Don't wait; start now. Aren't you worth it?

Make today great!
