You Are Worthy
Remember the old Saturday Night Live skit, Wayne's World, that also became a movie in the 90's? In it, the characters Wayne and Garth would often bow down to others in their presence, chanting "We're not worthy" over and over again, as they compared themselves to those they felt were more famous, more skillful, more accomplished, or more successful.
Often we compare ourselves to others in the same way. I mean, have you ever compared yourself to someone else and came out exactly even? Maybe so, but likely we come out either worse than or better than that person. More often, however, we compare ourselves to others in relation to something that they do better than you. Invariably, that lowers our self-esteem. We then diminish ourselves in our own mind as we tell ourselves "we are not worthy."
If I took out a $100 bill and offered it to you...would you want it? Of course you would. If I then took that same $100 bill and crumpled it into a ball, and offered it to you again...would you still want it? I would assume you would. If I then took it and threw it on the floor, stepped on it a few times and squished it with my foot, jumped up-and-down on it and kicked it around, then picked it up and offered it to you...would you want it now? I would think so...DO YOU KNOW WHY? Because no matter what I had put that bill through...in the end it is still worth $100. It doesn't lose its value when it was in a crunch, knocked down, stepped on or kicked around. The same goes for YOU.
We all go through tough times, we feel like life put us down, kicks us around, or puts us in a bind. Through it all...we never lose our VALUE. We are all valuable. We are all worthy. It is important to remind yourself: You are enough. No one needs to believe in you, but you. Create your own space. Seek connection, not validation. No amount of attention will be enough unless you validate & love yourself.
You are worthy. You are someone. You are the only version of "you" to ever exist in the universe. You are great. You are powerful. You are special. You deserve to feel like you can take on the world, and that you are worthy just as you are. Know who you are and know it's enough. Sometimes the hardest part of the journey is believing you're worthy of the trip.
Make today great!

"Be confused, it’s where you begin to learn new things. Be broken, it’s where you begin to heal. Be frustrated, it’s where you start to make more authentic decisions. Be sad, because if we are brave enough we can hear our heart’s wisdom through it. Be whatever you are right now. No more hiding. You are worthy, always." - S.C. Lourie
