Do More And Make A Difference
"Do more than belong, participate.
Do more than care, help.
Do more than believe, practice.
Do more than be fair, be kind.
Do more than forgive, forget.
Do more than dream, work."
- William Arthur Ward
Dare to make a difference. Do you have what it takes to make a positive difference? Why do some people choose to make a difference and others choose not to? For most, it is typically based on one of three factors: Fear, Uncertainty or Doubt. Fear of failure, fear of how other people will react, or what they may think. Uncertainty that you are doing the right thing or that it will work. Doubt that it will make a difference, or that you can do it.
Don't give into this. Mostly, we create these issues in our own minds. We create negative thoughts that fester and affect the actions we do or don’t take. We can conquer these if we truly make up our minds to. Believe you can and that it is right.
Mother Teresa said it best: “People are unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered, love them anyway. If you do good, people may accuse you of selfish motives, do good anyway. If you are successful, you may win false friends and true enemies, succeed anyway. The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow, do good anyway. Honesty and transparency make you vulnerable, be honest and transparent anyway. What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight, build anyway. People who really want help may attack you if you help them, help them anyway. Give the world the best you have, and you may get hurt, give the world your best anyway."
Remember, even small degrees of differences can indeed make a big difference. If you heat water to 211 degrees, all you get is hot water. But if you add 1 degree of difference, at 212 degrees you get boiling water. Boiling water creates steam, and with steam you can power a train.
What ONE DEGREE of positive difference can you make today? What ONE DEGREE of extra effort can you apply today? What ONE DEGREE of improvement can you gain today? What ONE DEGREE of change can make an impact today?
The purpose of life is to contribute in some way to make things better than how we found it and to make a difference. This will not only change your life but could help impact someone else’s in the process. Never underestimate the impact you can make in the lives of others. Step up, reach out and help someone that might need a lift. Dare to make a difference! Make today great!
