Goal For It
"Goals. There's no telling what you can do when you get inspired by them. There's no telling what you can do when you believe in them. And there's no telling what will happen when you act upon them." - Jim Rohn
We've all heard the phrase "Go For It!" Something in the moment inspires us to decide to take action towards something we wish or desire. There is obviously no fault in responding this way when we feel the urge. We respond to an intuitive feeling that inspires us to take immediate action when we go for it.
Similar, yet different, I think we should "Goal For It!" Setting a goal, in advance, for what we desire implies intention and strategy.
Goals are essential because they set a predetermined vision and direction toward what you want to achieve and motivate you to take action. It is something you set with purpose and on purpose, intentionally. Achieving it would not be by chance; it would be by choice. Goals put you in control.
The magic begins when we set goals. The purpose of goals is to create awareness and focus our attention. Our minds will not reach toward achievement until we know what we want and we have clear objectives. When we ignite this energy, it is like turning on the light switch. We gain the power to accomplish our objectives and begin working to make them a reality.
Having goals focuses our attention and keeps us on track because they can be specific and measurable. We can determine our progress and make adjustments when necessary.
When we align our goals with our purpose, they work similarly to the tires on your car. If all four tires on your car are not correctly aligned, the car will not function efficiently. Misalignment can create resistance, add additional wear-and-tear, waste fuel, or even pull you off into different directions, making it harder to steer.
If your goals aren't aligned with your purpose, they can create similar resistance. Your efforts can be exhausting, unmotivating, and harder to navigate. It can be easier to be off-track and headed in the wrong direction. If your goals are in conflict with one another, your life may not function efficiently.
Most people do not achieve their goals because they can't, or they are not intelligent or deserving enough. It is because they don't have a system and strategy in place to achieve them. It is believed that with clear intent, consistent focus, and continuous action, you can achieve anything. Decide what you want. Set goals and create action steps to get there. Set a deadline to achieve it. Then begin.
There is no shame in not meeting all of our goals, as long as our goals make us stretch. This doesn't mean that they should be impossible to achieve. They should push you out of your comfort zone. Set realistic goals that challenge you, and work hard to achieve them. No one can predict how high you can soar, and even you will not know until you take a chance and spread your wings. If you achieve your stretch goals, that is fantastic. But even if you don't, there is a chance that you pushed yourself further than you may have realized you could go.
We have to have big dreams and a burning desire to achieve great things. They need to be big enough and with enough pull-power to get you to take action. Your goals serve as your roadmap towards achieving whatever you desire.
Make your goals crystal clear in your mind, and your subconscious will help you achieve them. If you don't know where you are going, you will never get there. Seeing isn't believing; believing is seeing. Believe you can and will achieve them and begin taking action.
Remember, life is a journey. Learn to enjoy the trip. The objective is not to have perfection but progress along the way. Make adjustments and improvements as you go. Strive to be better today than you were yesterday. Plan to be better tomorrow than you are today. Ultimately, who you become in the process of striving to achieve your goals is often of greater value to you than achieving the goal itself.
What actions could you take right now to set yourself on course toward achieving your goals? You can accomplish so much more in a shorter amount of time when you set goals! Start today!
Make today great!

"The major reason for setting a goal is for what it makes of you to accomplish it. What it makes of you will always be the far greater value than what you get." - Jim Rohn
