Your Check Up

"People who have had little self-reflection live life in a huge reality blind-spot." - Bryant McGill

Is it just me or does it feel like this year is flying by? Could be partly due to the fact that last year, 2020, felt like it took two years to get through. Either way it's a good time to take a minute to slow down to self-reflect upon, and reevaluate, the first half of your year.

We end up being so busy just trying to move forward with our lives that we don't take time to reflect, reevaluate and refocus on the things that are important. It's easy to get so caught up in our normal day-to-day activities that we fail to take the necessary actions required to attain our significant goals. Taking the time to do this on a regular basis can make a huge impact on your life.

Here are some thought provoking questions to help your reflection:

  • What were some of the goals you set at the beginning of this year? Have you made progress on any of them? Have they changed, or are they still the same?
  • Have you improved something in your life? What did you learn? How did you evolve?
  • What were you determined to start doing? Did you start a new habit? Did you create something positive?
  • What were you determined to stop doing? Did you stop doing things that were of no benefit to you? If you are sick and tired of being sick and tired of something, stop.
  • What were you determined to continue doing? Did you continue doing the things that do benefit you? What good habits did you maintain?
  • How have you developed the relationships in your life? Do those you love, know it? Have you reached out to someone you haven't spoken to in a while? Have you made an impact on the lives of those you see regularly? Are there relationships in your life that you need to repair or forgive?
  • What is something that happened that you are proud of?
  • What is something that happened that brought you happiness and joy?
  • What is something that happened that you are thankful and grateful for?
  • What is something that happened that turned out to be a great decision for you?
  • What actions did you take that made the biggest difference?

Self-reflection doesn't just have to be done on New Year's Eve, or even at mid-year or monthly. The more you do it, the more you will gain from it. What would happen if you make it a daily habit? Self-reflection is one of the best ways that you can shift your mindset, increase positivity in your life, have a greater connection to yourself and begin to take impactful actions.

It's important for us to remember that every day counts. We will never get to relive it again. We must make the most of each day. We need to work hard to accomplish the things we want to achieve in life. Having good intentions is not enough. If it is truly about getting the results we desire, we have to be intentional about each day.  Make each day count!

Make today great!
