The Power to Choose
"The strongest principle of growth lies in human choice." - George Eliot
There are moments in your life that make you who you are and set the course of who you're going to be. Sometimes they're subtle moments. Sometimes, however, they are big moments you never saw coming. No one asks for their life to abruptly change, but it does. It's what you do afterward that counts. That's when you find out who you are.
Your attitude and mindset can make all the difference. It's not about what happens to you, but how you interpret what happens to you and, most notably, how you respond to it. We are not victims unless we choose to be. You must now focus on your power to choose. If you are to experience transformational growth in all areas of your life, you must realize and understand what is in your control. By understanding your power of choice, you can realize that living the life of your dreams is actually more in your control than you have ever imagined.
To choose to do something and take action. Remember, you don't have to do anything. You can choose to do whatever you think is significant enough to warrant your efforts. Life is a result of a series of choices we have made along the way. In the morning, we can choose to wake up early or sleep in longer. We can choose to exercise or be lazy. We can choose to eat healthily or eat whatever we want. Everything is a choice. These are somewhat easier to recognize.
However, what can be more difficult is choosing to react in a situation or with others. We can choose to let things bother us or to let them roll off of our backs. Eleanor Roosevelt had a great quote that stated, "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent," which is to say I have the choice of how I allow myself to feel about what others say or do. Likewise, we have the power to choose to be happy or unhappy. By understanding this, we can consciously create a more positive outcome.
If you choose to respond differently to the situations that arise during your day, you will get a different response in return. You can choose to focus and think about things you want more of in your life. You can choose to experience more of the things that make you feel good. You can choose to deliberately participate in the creation of your future by managing your thoughts and feelings.
We all have the power to choose. To choose our responses, reactions, and actions, to situations and other people is true power.
Choosing the right responses to things can truly make the difference in your attitude and outcomes you experience. Choose wisely and create the outcomes that benefit you.
Make today great!

"Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved." - William Jennings Bryan
