Always Do Your Best - Be You

"Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better." - Maya Angelou

In the book The Four Agreements, Don Miguel Ruiz writes about a code of conduct that can rapidly transform your life. Based on ancient Toltec wisdom, The Four Agreements are:

• Be impeccable with your word.

• Don't take anything personally.

• Don't make assumptions.

• Always do your best.

I've struggled with impostor syndrome or not believing I was ever good enough for most of my life. I always put so much pressure and stress on myself that it hindered my progress more than it helped. I would often downplay my own success. And any sort of failure I experienced was self-defeating and devastating for me.

Doing your best doesn't guarantee success. But it shouldn't be about winning or losing, success or failure. It is about putting everything you have into trying. It's about knowing your current limits and giving all you can. We can always get better. But comparing yourself to what you want to be tomorrow will make accepting who you are today tricky. You can only do what you can do today. You should feel good about yourself, knowing you did your best. Everyone is just doing their best with what they currently have in their current situation.

Retrain your thinking. Treat every experience as an opportunity to give your best. When you train yourself to always do your best, you will find that your best will improve. Believe in yourself and be you!

Make today great!
